Itinerary

Day 1:
Welcome to your Europamundo journey! We hope you enjoy your trip.

The moment of joining the tour is very important.

Check in advance the point and time of incorporation. In case you have any doubts, contact Europamundo before the day of departure through the emergency telephone number or the chat that you can find on the "My Trip" website created for you.


We ask you to be punctual, remember we are traveling in a group and the collaboration of all is crucial for the success of the trip.

Day 1: Madrid- Caceres- Evora.-
Total distance covered: 505 km.Scenery: Large pastures in Extremadura. Powerfully walled towns in Portugal.
Note: Time change when passing to Portugal, you will have to set your watch back one hour (when in Spain it is 12 o´clock, in Portugal it is 11 o´clock).


07:45 hrs. - Madrid - Departure (the time may change slightly depending on the departure points). We travel through Castile and Extremadura.
12:15 hrs. - Mérida - Arrival in the capital of Extremadura. Admission included to the archaeological complex of the Roman Theater and Amphitheater, the largest in the Iberian Peninsula, a World Heritage Site, recognized not only for its good state of conservation, but also as an example of the importance that spectacle and entertainment had in all of the provinces of Ancient Rome. Merida also has a pleasant pedestrian historic center with a lot of life and places where you can have lunch.


15:30 hrs. - Mérida - Departure. Pretty large farmland scenery. Crossing to Portugal. We enter the region of Alentejo.
16:30 hrs (Portuguese time) - Évora - Arrival. The capital of Alentejo, one of the most ancient cities in Portugal which has been declared UNESCO World Heritage. Time to have a walk through the historic center with its white streets, its cathedral, its old churches, a taste of southern Portugal.

Note: if the number of passengers is very limited, the journey from Madrid to Mérida might be carried out by public transport (regular bus or train).

Day 2: Évora - Marvao - Castelo da Vide - Tomar - Fátima.
Total distance covered: 305 km.


Scenery: Pleasant landscapes, white villages, castles, farmlands.


08:30 hrs. - Évora - departure.
10:15 hrs. – Marvao - very picturesque walled town that offers us a fantastic panoramic view of the region.




11:15 hrs. – Marvao - departure.
11:45 hrs. - Castelo de Vide - Time to enjoy this Alentejo town with its large castle, its old Jewish quarter with a medieval synagogue (now a museum) that we can visit and have lunch in the labyrinth of narrow and irregular streets whose Gothic arcades invite us to walk.


13:45 hrs. - Castelo De Vide, departure.
15:30 hrs. - Tomar. – Arrival -. We include the entrance to the immense Convent-Castle of Christ that belonged to the Templars and today dominates the city.
16:30 hrs. - Tomar – departure.


17:15 hrs. - Fátima - Before arriving, we make a brief stop in Aljustrel, the village where the three little shepherds were born, we can see Lucia´s house. After that we arrive in Fátima, an important sanctuary, a place of pilgrimage that reminds us of the apparitions of Our Lady to the three Little Shepherds. The chapel was built in 1919 in the place, where the apparitions took place, in Cova de Iría and, since then, the Sanctuary space continued to be built in response to the influx of pilgrims. Free time, when, if you’d like, you could participate in the candle procession (it is not held in winter). Dinner included.


Day 3: Fatima - Porto.
Total distance covered: 210 km.


Scenery: Pleasant green hills.


08:30 hrs. - Fatima - departure.
11:00 hrs. - Porto - arrival. We will visit the city for approximately two hours with a local guide: the Douro River, its historic center that has been declared a world heritage site, the iron bridges... we will also include a visit to one of its centuries-old wineries where the famous "Port Wine" is produced. Free time.


Note: From November to April, the Porto visit make take place in the afternoon.


Day 4: Porto - Braga - Bom Jesus - Guimaraes - Pinhao - Coimbra.-
Total distance covered: 385 km.


Scenery: Green landscapes of northern Portugal. Very beautiful landscapes in the Douro Valley.


Note: The schedules in this stage from November to March are modified to adapt the route to sunlight.


08:00 hrs. - Porto - departure.
09:00 hrs. - Braga - arrival. A time to walk in the religious capital of Portugal with its old cathedral. After that we go to the base of the Bom Jesus sanctuary. We include the climb on the oldest cable car in the world... Powered only by water; after visiting the sanctuary we suggest you walk down to admire its beautiful staircase.


11:15 hrs. - Bom Jesus - departure.
11:45 hrs. - Guimaraes - arrival. Free time in the city that was the first capital of Portugal, its Palace of the Dukes reminds us of it. Time for lunch.


14:00 hrs. - Guimaraes - departure. Beautiful landscapes full of vineyards going down to the Douro Valley. We pass through Sabrosa, the birthplace of Magellan.
16:45 hrs. - Pinhao – arrival - we visit its wonderful train station with all its tiles and we include a short cruise of approximately one hour along the Douro River (Note: From November to March the cruise does not operate, instead the journey is taken along the panoramic road with stops at viewpoints following the Douro bank).


17:45 hrs. - Pinhao –Departure-
20:15 hrs. - Coimbra. Arrival at the end of the day. Dinner included in the hotel.


Day 5: Coimbra- Batalha- Nazare- Obidos- Lisbon.-
Total distance covered: 280 km.


Scenery: Pleasant landscapes, hills, forests, ocean.


After breakfast a transfer to the historic center to walk in the third city of Portugal, a city with a very important past that has one of the oldest universities in the world and the oldest in Portugal. Enjoy its streets, its patios and its student life.


11:30 hrs. - Coimbra -departure.
12:30 hrs. - Batalha Monastery - entrance included in this impressive medieval mausoleum of kings with great historical significance given that the decisive event for the consolidation of the Portuguese nation took place there. You can see the monastery inside or see its impressive facade and stroll through the small shopping streets that surround it.


13:30 hrs. - Batalha Monastery - departure.
14:00 hrs. - Nazaré – arrival to this beautiful fishing town. We include the elevator that takes us up to the ancient city on the top of the cliff with stunning views over the ocean and the popular beach. Time for lunch and rest.


16:30 hrs. - Nazaré - departure.
17:00 hrs. - Óbidos - Arrival. Town full of charm with important medieval walls, with its castle, its streets full of flowers and commercial life.


18:15 hrs. - Óbidos - departure.
19:30 hrs. - Lisbon - arrival.

Note: Due to the fact that the Nazaré elevator is under restoration at this time, and while the repair works continue, the ascent to the old city will be done by coach.
Day 6: Lisbon.-
City tour of Lisbon. In the morning city tour with a local guide lasting approximately 2 hours. During this visit we will pass through the following points: Eduardo VII park, Baixa Pombalina (Marqués de Pombal square, Rossío square with views of the San Jorge castle, Alfama), Estrela
neighborhood, Estrela Basilica, Monument to the Discoveries, Belém Tower, Jerónimos Monastery. The visit will finish in the city center. Free time in the afternoon to continue exploring the city. We suggest you taking the Elevator da Gloria to visit Bairro Alto and the viewpoint São Pedro. Our guide will optionally offer you to visit the beautiful towns of Sintra with its castle and Cascais and Estoril by the sea.



20:30 hrs. - We return from the Restauradores Square, an area with numerous restaurants and cafes, to the hotel.




Day 7:
After breakfast, end of our services.

Note: Remember that hotels check-out time is usually at 10.00 hrs. In most cases, you can leave your luggage at the hotel reception at check-out time, so you can enjoy the city and pick it up at the time you require that same day. If you need more time to use your room, please consider booking an additional night at the end of your tour.
